Compare Wisbech roofers
Answer four questions. We pass your job to vetted roofers who cover your postcode, and they come back to you with quotes. No charge, no obligation.
We pass your details only to roofing firms that cover your postcode, so they can quote. We never sell your details on for other purposes. See our privacy notice.
How it works
Three steps, about a minute of your time, and nothing to pay at any point.
Tell us the postcode and the job
Four short questions. Postcode first, because in this town it decides far more than distance does. A frontage on North Brink and a house out towards Elm are not the same job and are not always the same firm.
We match you to firms that cover you
Only firms that have been through our checks see it: verifiable trading history, roofing-grade insurance, and real coverage of PE13 and PE14 rather than a national number that farms the job out to whoever answers.
They quote, you decide
The firms come to you. Put what they send against our guide ranges, take the one you like, or take none of them. Nothing binds you at any stage and nobody chases you on our behalf.
Two questions decide most roofing jobs in Wisbech
Before anyone talks about tiles, work out which of these applies to your building. They change the price, the timescale and who should be on the roof.
1. Is the building listed, or in a conservation area?
Wisbech had a population of 33,933 at the 2021 census and contains over 250 listed buildings and monuments. They are not spread evenly across the town. They cluster along the river and around the Old Market, the Market Place and The Crescent, which means a large share of central roofs cannot legally be re-covered in whatever the owner fancies.
The planning authority is Fenland District Council. Not the county council, and not any of the neighbouring city or borough councils. If your building is listed, or falls inside one of Fenland's 10 conservation areas, that is who decides what may go back on the roof.
Ask before you order materials
Fenland District Council says that in a conservation area it takes extra control over demolition, trees, development generally and minor alterations, and it gives cladding a building, inserting dormers and attaching satellite dishes as its own examples. Two of those three are roof work.
The council does not publish a list of permitted roof coverings, so do not assume and do not let a roofer assume on your behalf. Ask Fenland District Council what your specific address needs, and get the answer before anything is ordered or stripped.
2. How exposed is the roof?
The land here is flat and open, and there is very little between a Wisbech roof and the weather coming across the fen. That changes where roofs fail. Wind rarely plucks a tile out of the middle of a slope. It gets under an edge, at the ridge, at the verge or at the eaves, and it works from there until something lets go.
So the interesting part of a quote here is not the tile. It is the fixing specification and the edge detailing, which is exactly the part a cheap quote leaves vague.
Roofing work we cover in Wisbech and Fenland
Whatever is wrong up there, the sensible order is the same: find out what the job should cost, then get people who actually do that work to price it.
Roof repairs
Slipped tiles, a lifted verge, failed flashing and the leak nobody can place. The most common call we get, and the cheapest thing on this list if it is caught early.
Read moreNew roofs
Full strip and re-cover. On an exposed site the underlay, the fixings and the edge detail matter every bit as much as the covering that goes on top of them.
Read moreFlat roofing
Extensions, dormers, garages and outriggers. Wind finds a badly detailed flat roof edge long before the membrane itself is anywhere near worn out.
Read moreEmergency roofing
Water coming in now, usually the morning after a windy night. Temporary cover first, proper repair second, and a warning about who knocks the next day.
Read moreTiling and slating
Clay pantiles, plain tiles, concrete and natural slate. Pantiles are characteristic of this part of the Fens and they are not laid like anything else.
Read moreChimney repairs
Repointing, flaunching, flashing and removal. Tall stacks on older frontages take the full force of the wind, and they cause more leaks than the tiles get blamed for.
Read moreGuttering, fascias and soffits
The cheap work that prevents the expensive work. Water running down a wall instead of into a downpipe rots roof timbers from the edge inwards.
Read moreRoof cleaning and moss removal
Sometimes worth doing, frequently oversold. Where it genuinely helps, where it is being sold for the sake of it, and what a pressure washer does to old clay.
Read moreKnow the number before anyone quotes you
Most people who overpay for roofing were not fleeced in any dramatic way. They simply had nothing to measure the first quote against, and the first quote sounded plausible enough.
So the cost pages here carry researched guide ranges for the jobs that actually get done around Wisbech, reviewed as material and labour prices move. They are guide ranges, not offers, and no roofing firm is bound by them. They are here so that the first number a roofer says to you is not the first number you have ever heard for that job.
- Guide ranges for repairs, re-roofs, flat roofs, chimneys and guttering
- Why listed and conservation area work sits outside those ranges entirely
- What dry-fix ridge and verge systems buy you on an exposed roof
- The quote red flags worth walking away from

One town, several completely different roofing markets
A Georgian frontage on the Brink, a twentieth century house in one of the town wards and a bungalow in a fen village share a postcode district and almost nothing else. The rules, the materials and the price are all different.
The Brinks and town centre
North Brink, South Brink, the Old Market, the Market Place and The Crescent, where the listed buildings are concentrated and consent comes before materials.

Two of the Wisbech town wards. Usually a straightforward material choice, so the questions are about condition, exposure and what a fair price looks like.

A name that appears twice around here, as a Wisbech town ward and as a village beside the town. Both are covered, and both sit on open ground.

Two of the villages just outside Wisbech. Open sites, long gutter runs and roofs that catch the weather from every direction.

- No rating published yet: its independent review history is still building
We list a firm here only once we have checked that it is a real trading business, that it is registered where it says it is, and that it genuinely works in this part of Fenland. Firms shown as Expert Roofer Verified have been through that scheme's checks. Expert Roofer Verified is our own scheme. This site and Expert Roofer are the same business, so those checks are our vetting and not independent third-party accreditation. We publish no star rating we cannot point you at a source for, and where a firm has no verified review history yet we say so rather than invent one. We do not rank firms by who pays most. If you would like your firm considered, get in touch.
What we are, and what we are not
A fair number of sites that look like this one are quietly owned by a single roofing firm, or by a national lead broker that will sell the same enquiry to six companies before lunch. Rather than let you guess which sort this is, here it is in plain terms.
Roofers in Wisbech is run by Expert Roofers. We are not roofers. Nobody here has been on your roof and nobody here is going to be. What we do is check roofing firms, publish guide prices we researched ourselves, and pass your enquiry to the firms that cover your postcode. Those firms pay for the introduction, which is why none of it costs you anything.
- You are never charged, and you are never obliged to accept a quote
- The guide price is on this site before a roofer gives you one, not after
- Firms are not ordered by what they pay us
- No star ratings, because we cannot yet point you at a source for one
If a quote that came through us sits well outside our own published range, tell us. That is precisely what the ranges are for, and it is useful information about the firm.
Frequently asked questions
No. Homeowners and landlords are never charged. The roofing firms pay for the introduction, and that is what funds the service.
You pay nothing for the quotes and you are under no obligation to take any of them.
No. Roofers in Wisbech is a quote-comparison and introduction service operated by Expert Roofers, and it carries out no roofing work of any kind.
Whoever you appoint, the contract, the guarantee and the standard of the work belong to that firm, not to us.
Yes, and say so at the start rather than at the survey. Tell us in the form and the enquiry goes to firms that take heritage work rather than to whoever happens to be nearest.
Consent is a separate matter and no roofer can grant it for you. Wisbech contains over 250 listed buildings and monuments and the planning authority is Fenland District Council, so ask them what your address needs before any materials are ordered.
We look for evidence that the business trades where it says it trades, that it holds roofing-grade insurance, and that it really does work the postcodes on its coverage list.
Treat that as a minimum standard rather than a guarantee. Ask any firm for its insurance certificate, a couple of nearby jobs you can go and look at, and a written quote before you let it start.
Up to three, and frequently fewer. Two firms that genuinely work your street beat six that will drive in from an hour away and price the journey into the job.
If nothing suitable covers your postcode, we will tell you that instead of passing your details to a firm that should not have them.
The town and the surrounding PE13 and PE14 postcodes. In town that takes in North Brink and South Brink, the Old Market, the Market Place and The Crescent, and the wards of Claremont, Clarence, Clarkson, Medworth, Octavia Hill, Peckover East, Peckover West, Walsoken, Waterlees and Wisbech North.
Outside the town we cover Elm, Emneth, Leverington, Wisbech St Mary, Upwell, Outwell, Tydd St Giles, Newton, Parson Drove, Friday Bridge, Coldham, Guyhirn, Murrow, Terrington St John, Marshland St James, Sutton Bridge and Long Sutton.
Perfectly reasonable, and it is exactly why the cost pages are there. Read them, and leave the form until you actually want somebody to price the work.
Picking just planning and pricing in the form flags to the roofers that you are not ready to book, which takes the pressure out of the conversation.
